Looking for some R & R?

Round Trip Readers is a bookstore crawl, but instead of you worrying about driving all over, we’ll take the wheel. You check in, grab coffee, and hop on the bus with us to visit bookstores. We’ll spend about 30 minutes at each bookstore, before heading back to wind down with a bookish craft and optional food and drink.

Each crawl will be a little different and make different stops to let readers visit as many indie bookstores as possible. And we’ll always end back where we started—thus, Round Trip Readers. All you need to do is show up, and probably bring a tote bag.

Our first trip!

Saturday, May 30th at 11:30 am starting at Cream & Amber!

Frequently Asked Questions

You might need some more details, so we hope you’ll find them here. For any additional concerns, please feel free to reach out to us on the contact form below, or by email at bookbesties@roundtripreaders.com.

This information is subject to change.

  • The crawl will run roughly from 11:30am to 6:30pm. Check-in will be between 11:30a-12p, with optional shopping at our base stop. We will depart to begin the crawl at 12p, and arrive back at 4:30pm. Then, we will have crafting and chill time with more book perusal to wind down our day!

Feel free to arrive early to grab lunch, or bring your own packed lunch for the bus!

  • We will work to provide any accessibility accommodations possible, so please reach out to us if there’s anything you’d like to request! For our first crawl, we are limited to a mini-coach, which does not have wheelchair accessibility. For future crawls, we do hope to expand to full-size buses, which will have wheelchair access! Coach seats are equipped with seatbelts. Please see the individual details page for each crawl for information on our transportation.

  • Your ticket price includes the travel of the bus and the supplies and reserved area for the craft at the end. While coffee, drinks, and food are all available for purchase at our start/end location, these are not included in your ticket.

  • Absolutely! Any snacks and non-alcoholic beverages are fair game on the bus. We will ask that you respect individual bookstores’ rules on food/drink, and leave snacks on the bus if needed. We will send out an email notification ahead of the crawl if there are any allergies (i.e. peanut, etc.) that should be taken into consideration. No glass containers are allowed on the bus.

  • We will be at each bookstore for 30 minutes. The besties team will give a ten minute warning so that you can make any purchases you’d like, and we will make sure we have everyone on the bus before departing–we won’t leave you stranded!

  • Since we’ll be hanging out for awhile, we definitely recommend bringing water to stay hydrated, comfy shoes to be walking around in, and if you’re anything like us, maybe an e-reader for the bus ride! We also recommend keeping a large tote bag on the bus, so that as you’re shopping, you can pack away your purchases for the day all together. Lucky for you, we have a really cute tote available soon.

  • At Cream and Amber, there are a couple of different parking options. We do not recommend parking on Mainstreet, as there is a 2-hour parking limit. There is unlimited parking available on 16th Ave, and one side of 17th Ave (please take a look at signage!). There is also parking available behind Cream and Amber and the building next door. If you’re coming with friends, carpooling may be a good option! You can park at 102 10th Ave N for free with no time limit, this is approximately a half-mile walk. Many of the municipal lots have an upper limit of 3 hours.

  • Please feel free to reach out to us at bookbesties@roundtripreaders.com if you have a ticket for a crawl, and are planning to get picked up partway through the event, so we can make sure we aren’t looking for you when we re-board the bus. If you aren’t able to stay for the craft and chill at the end, that’s okay! Don’t forget to pick up your supplies to build at home! At this time we are not able to offer partial refunds should you need to leave early.

  • No, but we do offer the option to transfer your ticket to a different attendee. Feel free to reach out to us at bookbesties@roundtripreaders.com if you would like to transfer your ticket to someone, or if you have any other questions.

The Bookish Besties

Jennifer Gibson

Jennifer (of @spillingbookishtea) is a romance reader of every sub-genre, but you can almost always find a monster romance on her “Currently Reading.” She spends most of her time engaged with the book community, whether as a reader and reviewer, or as a designer of bookish goods for authors and readers over at @spiced.blooms! She can’t resist a new machine to make cute book goodies, and if you see her posting about another new one, no you didn’t. She also designs invitation suites and more for weddings through @jenbloom.studio, and lives in Brooklyn Center with her husband, the sassiest daughter around, and two dogs.

Ande Motz

Ande’s (@bookmarks_and_backbeats) first love will always be horror, but she’ll never say no to a good book, no matter the genre! Friday nights aren’t the only night you can catch her reading - every night is a good night to open a book and read. Ande hopes to make her bookish besties feel more connected to the story by mixing song recommendations with her book reviews. Want to get a taste of her style? Join her at Uncorked Book Club for a specially curated playlist to match the book. You can find Ande, her partner, and their tuxedo cat reside in Minneapolis.

Allie Nelson

Allie (of @Alliesannotation) is a lifelong Fantasy reader. While she technically has a full-time job in software consulting, her primary calling is over-filling her schedule with book events and reading fantasy, romance, and everything in between. She first started engaging in online book spaces in 2022, and dove in with her own accounts in 2023 because she’s terrible at making friends as an adult, and this community helps her manage it! She also serves on the board of a Women in Tech nonprofit, and coaches high school speech and theater. She lives just North of the Twin Cities with her husband and two dogs.
